EVENT REPORT – MINEX CENTRAL ASIA 2014 FORUM
The 5th Mining and Exploration Forum “MINEX Central Asia 2014” was held in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) from 31 March to 2 April 2014.
Mining industry plays important role in the economic development of Central Asian countries, creating new skilled jobs, developing infrastructure and bringing substantial foreign trade income. The proportion of the mining industry in total industrial production in Kazakhstan is more than 60%, in Kyrgyzstan – 58 %, in Tajikistan – 12.4 %. Recently, the mining industry has been actively introducing innovative technologies to significantly reduce production costs, improve production efficiency and to successfully develop mining projects that have recently been economically unprofitable. Supported by the global economic growth and infrastructure development, mining sector is becoming increasingly attractive to international investors seeking opportunities for long-term and profitable investments. Currently Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries are actively working to create favourable conditions to encourage exploration and effective reproduction of the mineral resource base and enhanced control over the rational and integrated use of mineral resources. They are supporting introduction of new high-tech and efficient technologies for geological exploration, mining and mineral processing, using automated management processes and systematisation of the banks of geological information and at the same time rapidly developing industry infrastructure and creating conditions for the HR training to comply with the up-to-date requirements of the industry.
The important changes that are occurring in the Central Asian mining industry were represented at the “MINEX Central Asia 2014” Mining and Exploration Forum and Trade exhibition.
